Water for Gaza

Gaza is experiencing an ongoing water crisis due to salt water and sewage contamination of their groundwater supply.

Gaza Water Crisis

Sea water and sewage contamination has made over 98 percent of the groundwater is undrinkable. Crowded conditions, blockades, power outages, and high unemployment are making this situation worse as more people need clean water with little means to get any.

Contaminated tap water, which is used primarily for bathing and cleaning, is causing skin diseases and infections. According to the World Health Organization:

  • 50 percent of children in Gaza suffer from parasitic infections.
  • 26 percent of all disease in Gaza is caused by contaminated water.

Every human has the right to clean drinking water. Water is essential to life, and no mother should worry that her child will get sick from something to basic, so necessary to our survival.

Baitulmaal Water Tanks

Baitulmaal established 300 water tanks that provide 300,000 liters (79,252 gallons) of clean drinking water every month to more than 10,000 Palestinians in Gaza.

The cost for keeping the water flowing in Gaza is only $60 per tank per month. With your generous gift, Palestinians in Gaza won’t be left to drink or wash with sewage-contaminated water.

It’s more than water. It’s life. It’s hope.

Can the people of Gaza count on you today?
