As the crisis intensifies in Myanmar, hundreds of thousands of minority Rohingya Muslims are fleeing the systemic violence towards neighboring Bangladesh to seek refuge.
According to recent reports from the grounds, 12000 households, roughly 123000 people, are in urgent need of food, medical care, and shelter. The situation calls for more emergency relief and assistance as more refugees keep flooding toward the borders of Bangladesh.
The UN Secretary General described the situation as extremely dangerous that can amount to the ethnic cleansing of Muslim Minority of Rakhine state in Myanmar. He called on international community and aid agencies to hasten their aid and humanitarian support to prevent a human catastrophe.
Baitulmaal, in collaboration with UN registered organizations operating in the region, has arranged the distribution of humanitarian aid, food assistance and tents to the displaced Rohingyas and refugees in Bangladesh.
With the current escalated crisis, the number of displaced people and refugees have been increased, the situation requires that we expand our relief and assistance to help and assist many more.
