Baitulmaal is proud to announce an upcoming project where by the grace of Allah, then our donors, the construction of the new six stories Baitulmaal Shelter and Orphanage, to be located in the plush green village in the Paushar, District: Munshigonj, Bangladesh, near the river Isamati, has begun.
The land for the shelter has been donated and will be the first initiative of any organization in Bangladesh, Alhamdulillah. The initial groundbreaking has been done, and the first phase of the project is underway. Steel beams and bases are rising up, soon to be a completed sanctuary for the educationally starved children of this village, along with the ones left homeless when the rains set in. Residents of this tiny village are rolling up their sleeves, excited and proud to be a part of this endeavor.
During the dry season the shelter will serve as an education center and orphanage, serving approximately 1000 elementary students, being supervised by 15 to 25 teachers. There will be classrooms, resident areas for the students including a kitchen and dining room, sleeping quarters, a library and computer lab. During the flood season he shelter will serve as a refuge for the flood victims until the flood waters cease and the refugees are able to return to there homes.
Approximately $35,000 has been paid to date and we are facing $80,000 more for this project to be completed.
